Healthy Diet equals Healthy Body
What am I eating? What am I cooking? I feel like eating pizza....
Everyday we are challenged with the hard decision of how to fuel our bodies. How we handle this constant struggle have a significant impact in our lives.
Food is our fuel; it provides energy. I like to compare my body to my vehicles. We have different choices of fuel, and the type of fuel we choose dictates how our car will run, how long it will last, how much and how often maintenance is going to be.
Likewise, our body will respond to our food choices!
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports of Leading causes of death four are directly related to nutrition!
Our choice of diet dictates our destiny!
We have the power to control our diet and live a healthier life. Let's use it!
Heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and some types of cancer, are some of the chronic diseases associated with nutrition. We have become accustomed to live in the fast lane and dependent on prepackaged processed food and it is clearly affecting our health.
Though there are other factors which contribute to the cause or origin of chronic diseases a poor diet is a major contributor. When challenged with a chronic disease how we choose to fuel our body is extremely important. Our food choices can speed up or slow down the course of it, it may even reverse the illness! KNOWLEDGE is POWER! We have the power to choose the correct type of foods to provide our body the nutrition it needs.
Why should we stay away from prepackaged food? Most prepackaged food are very HIGH in SODIUM. WHY? SODIUM is used as a preservative and flavor enhancement. WHAT is sodium? Sodium is a mineral found on our cells that regulates blood pressure. A diet high in sodium can cause HIGH BLOOD pressure and kidney disease. Another example, Carcinogens which you can find in processed meats such as hot dogs. WHY? like sodium, carcinogens are used as preservatives and flavor enhancement. WHAT are carcinogens? Carcinogens are nitrites and nitrates, harmful substances which may increase the risk of stomach cancer.
Fast Food is loaded with calories, high fat, high sodium, high sugar and little to none essential nutrients. Needless to mention sometimes we are not aware of the ingredients in fast food! Fast Food and prepackaged food can cause high blood pressure and obesity, two controllable leading factors behind heart disease. (Risk factors of heart disease)
Most people go on "diets" in an attempt to better their health or manage their weight, but again I stress KNOWLEDGE is POWER! It is important to learn how to nourish our bodies. It is not a diet; it is a lifestyle! Following "diets" without proper knowledge can lead to malnutrition. Unfortunately, we live in a society that being “skinny” is mistakenly associated with being healthy.
Malnutrition comes in ALL SIZES! Malnutrition is caused by excess or deficiency of essential nutrients.
Deficiency = under nutrition
Excess = over nutrition
Chronic diseases such as the ones discussed are the most common and preventable health problems. The CDC reports that as 2012, about half of all adults, that is an estimation of 117 million people, suffer from at least one chronic health condition, and one out of four adults has at least two, or more, chronic health conditions. As humans we have a physiological need to eat. It can be a real challenge to most of us to choose the right avenue to meet that need. We are all guilty of making poor food choices at one point or another, but we can change and strive for a healthier lifestyle.

Healthcare mystery shopping also gives managers concrete examples of the specific behavior that "turns patients on." This sets up the perfect opportunity to present to staff the behaviors the organization would like emulated while giving kudos to the employee who displays them. moe's keto
